The Bay St. Louis Bridge has been named the winner of the People's Choice Award by the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials (AASHTO). The People's Choice Award is voted on by the people and this bridge project was among ten projects competing for the award. The Bay St. Louis Bridge won the award by receiving 55,000 votes. The pre-existing bridge was destroyed by Hurricane Katrina. Granite Archer Western was the prime contractor for this project with Eutaw Construction's role that of a major subcontractor. Eutaw constructed the bridge approaches at both ends of the bridge and also excavated and deepened the channels in the bay to allow for access to the bridge for construction barges. Eutaw is proud to be a part in not only the construction of an award winning bridge but helping in the redevelopment of the Mississippi Gulf Coast.

Eutaw Construction Company wins Mississippi Associated Builders and Constractors Merit Award

Eutaw Construction Company has won a merit award from the Mississippi Associated Builders and Contractors for its performance associated with the Toyota Boshoku America project. Toyota Boshoku will be a Tier One supplier for the Toyota Manufacturing Plant facility located in Blue Springs, Mississippi. The Toyota Bosoku project called for the excavation of 363,000 cubic yards of unclassifed, placement of 239,000 cubic yards of select borrow material, 12,000 tons of chemical stabilization and installation of approximately 3,700 linear feet of storm drain piping with 17 grate inlets. This project had a timeline of 50 days with liquidated damages of $10,000 per day; however, it was completed in 25 days with the utilization of ten scrapers, six dozers, two graders, 24 trucks to haul dirt, a variety of other equipment and the hard work and dedication of Eutaw employees. Futhermore, with all the of the aforementioned equipment and tight timeline, the Toyota Boshoku Project was completed in a safe and sound manner. "We believe the Toyota Boshoku project epitomizes Eutaw's work performance which is performing large scale projects, within a tight timeline, within budget while paying close attention to safety," said Thomas S. Elmore, President of Eutaw Construction. "This award means alot to the employees of Eutaw who performed admirably on this project and we thank the Mississippi Associated Builders and Contractors for considering us deserving of this award."

Eutaw Construction has been selected to undertake a major infrastructure replacement project on the Mississippi Gulf Coast, rebuilding public utilities destroyed during Hurricane Katrina.
Construction should begin soon on the largest public utilities replacement project in Bay St. Louis’ history. In coming months, water, sewer and natural gas lines will be replaced in the Old Town area. Some street and sidewalk replacement will also occur.
